Prof. Herman Wasserman
Prof. Herman Wasserman, co-Director, is head of the Research Unit for Media in the Global South, Rhodes University, South Africa. He has published widely on media in post-apartheid South Africa, including more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and several books. He has been rated by the National Research Foundation as a B2 (internationally recognized) researcher. He edits the journal Ecquid Novi: African Journalism Studies and sits on the board of several others. The establishment of the Research Unit for Media in the Global South is a response to the research challenges posed by new developments in the global media world order for a better understanding of how the 'rise of the rest' is impacting global communication patterns, demands more comparative studies of countries such as South Africa, China, India and Brazil.
